Cthulhu fhtagn, what a wonderful phrase...
Feb. 9th, 2007 11:16 pmSo today was interesting. Started off by getting up and walking half an hour to the psychiatrist's office, then half an hour back, in the Massachusetts winter freeze and wind, which might have been dumb. But oh well. Went to classes. Did homework. Had dinner with Shaylyn, where we talked about various relatively safe topics for a while, and then started talking about death once we each established that the other one wouldn't be bothered by the conversation taking a wildly morbid turn. Yayy.
Then went upstairs to check mail, where found Liz and Ally and Mo and various other SPOC-affiliated people setting up for the Masquerade Ball (official theme: "A Night In Foggy London." Actual theme: the Elder Gods are coming to eat you all. Cthulhu fhtagn!). Liz set me to work painting various things black (cardboard cogs, and long bits of pipe, and wooden bases for the lampposts), which suited me quite well, as I adore painting things black. Then we got free food from Hillel, which was nice of them. Then helped slightly with the duct-taping-together of many pieces of cardboard to serve as a frame for the rather giant picture of H.P.Lovecraft. Then spent much of the rest of the night with Adam's Swiss Army knife and an old parenting book, cutting out the centers of the pages to make it into a box, that we are ostensibly going to put candy in.
When I left, the rest of the group was playing B5, and Liz was making a cover for a big old green book she has that is going to serve as the Necronomicon. Ally had spent much of the earlier part of the evening (before we started cutting books) making chains out of straws and duct tape so that we can chain the Necronomicon down.
I did not attend the auction (SPOC held an auction in the Bistro so that people could buy dates for the Masquerade Ball), but apparently they made quite a bit of money, and the largest amount anyone was bought for was $50. What college student would spend fifty bucks to buy a date for a school dance held by the nerd group is beyond me, but SPOC getting money=yay. (It is odd that I care, as I am not actually *in* SPOC at the moment. This may change.)
I will probably help with setup tomorrow as well. And leave homework 'til Sunday. I have very little homework anyway.
In other news, I do not understand this bus business. But whatever. I will figure it out.
Whee.
Goodnight,
-Claudia
