Mar. 8th, 2007 06:18 pmBah why does the housing system suck?
The story to date: Got invited to live in Gaming House next year. Gaming House applied for theme housing and got turned down, despite having had it for at least the past two years. Decided to apply for same-room housing, the forms for which would have to be in Monday, writing me in. Informative emails from RLH say that as long as half the suite is staying, we are eligible for same-room. But just got email from Adam saying we are *not* in fact eligible for same-room housing, although did not say why; have written back to ask. Guess we will go into the regular lottery. Hopefully the fact that Liz and Josh (and I think Ginny?) are going to be seniors will somewhat improve our chances of getting another suite of 6 without too much of a problem.
Gyaaahl.
In other news, I bought a Bible today, because I am a dork. It was an illuminated KJV "family" (ie, with charts for family records in the front) Bible, and so I wanted it. We already have a whole bunch of Bibles, but they are, respectively, a highly abbreviated Children's Bible, an NKJV growing-up-Catholic Bible, a paperback (ew) and ridiculously simply translated (double ew) study Bible the translation thereof being entitled the "Contemporary English Version" (ie, the we-don't-teach-our-kids-to-read-long-sentences-anymore translation), and the RSV Oxford Study Bible with OT Apocrypha that my mom (and now I) used in college.
But this one has PICTURES.
And the King James Bible is the most historically important version, having had an impact on the shaping of the modern English language rivaled only by one Mr. William Shakespeare, a volume of the complete works whoseof I purchased on Saturday that is, coincidentally, also bound in fake leather and is the exact same size as my new Bible, although it is not illustrated (or illuminated or whatever).
So, yeah. I said I would not buy any more books this break and I lied. Not only did I buy a book, I bought "The" Book. New, illustrated, and expensive.
And on Saturday I will likely be faced with the Mutter Museum gift shop. Somebody pray for my self-control.
