Just read the other comments, and I think I have the sollution to "Haldos" for you!
If Haldos indeed comes from Haldanos, then this is what it means (it's Sindarin):
Hald - exalted, high
Nos - clan, family
"Haldanos", then, would mean something like "exalted family" or more freely: "noble/royal family"
The "a" between "hald" and "nos" might be to imply such a thing as "from" (from an exalted family) or has been inserted for pronounciation.

There is, however, another possibility.
"Halda" could be a mutation of the word "halad", which means "tall" (the words are obviously linked). In that case the translation would be "tall family / clan", simply implying that the members are taller than usual. I am not sure where you found the name Haldos, but I'd like to know. The context makes it easier.
