There is no way I'm going to post more than a dozen photos at a time, so there will be several of these over the next few days. Largely for the benefit of the few other etudiants in the program whose LJs I have, although captions for the rest of you.

The guy holding his head in his arms is Saint Denis, one of the patron saints of Paris. I'd heard of this statue, but there are so many frickin' hundreds of sculptures on Notre-Dame I never thought I'd be able to find it. In fact, I didn't actually realize I had until after I'd taken the photo. Go me.

Somebody poke Brendan over this way if he doesn't already have my LJ, as I promised him this picture. For the rest of you, may I introduce Caro, Dianne, and Jenny, with the digital cameras of the entire group except me, devant la Tour Eiffel.

Trocadero. The text is the spiffiest notice ever seen in front of a museum, basically saying "Don't come in if you don't actually want to."

Wierd little photobooth promo thingies for Charlie et la Chocolaterie that were in nearly every single metro station, including Grands Boulevards (the one for our hotel). Amused me greatly.

Nobody talks about the cielings at the Louvre. I took several photos of cielings and about two of artwork. I mean, come on, everyone knows what the Mona Lisa looks like, why do I need to take a picture of it? But the building itself made me v. v. happy. I was big on architecture on this trip. Victor Hugo overdose.

Screwing around with color settings at dinner. This be Camille and Brendan. Unfortunately this was not at the one restaurant where we got to actually pick what we wanted to eat.

Brittany enjoying cracking all the sugar on her crême brulée after having enjoyed eating only half of it. Some of them were a little heavy on the "brulée" bit, otherwise... man, can the French do dessert.

People building a stage for Live 8 devant le Chateau de Versailles. Was très fun walking around Versailles with utterly random drums and general music-y noise thrumming through the town. Very movie-y.

Statue of Rene Duguay-Trouin on the ramparts at Saint-Malo. Duguay-Trouin was one of the most celebrated Malouin corsairs, although the statue just labels him as a navy official.

Laura and I went on an Artistic Photographs kick up on the ramparts, despite the fact that I am not a particularly spifftastic photographer. So here we have, if I recall correctly, Laura looking out longingly to sea waiting for her pirate husband to come home, or something equally melodramatic.

Laura's pirate husband still hasn't returned...
(I wasn't her pirate husband yet at this point.)

Wierd little pool built right on la Manche. Simultaneously functioning as a photo of just how bloody gorgeous Bretagne is.

They still have cannons on the ramparts, although franchement it's beyond me who they're going to be shooting at. Camille, Tansy, and Brittany.

More to come later.

Brendan's going to the Worlds Yo-yo competition which starts today. He'll probably amble over in a bit less than a week.

Nice pictures.

So she wasn't lying when she said he was a yo-yo person?

Wow.

No, he's freakishly insane in his yo-yo obsession. He actually refrained from taking his yo-yo case with him on this trip; he only brought 5 or 6.

It is pretty amazing to watch. Sometimes annoying, and also amusing watching him attract people in crowds, but still pretty amazing.
