What do you prefer when you get into a relationship?
1- Would you rather have a fun fling or a lasting relationship?
Considering I can't imagine myself having a casual enough attitude about any of this for a "fling" to be fun, I'd have to go with lasting relationship.
2- What was your longest relationship?
Seven months, although I tend to consider the five-month one as being eleven months (I consider the "special friends" bit close enough).
3-What is your favorite personality trait?
Being able to be taken out in public.
4- What is the most romantic thing a significant other could do?
I don't know. Take me to Europe, probably. Other than that, I actually can't think of anything I think I'd respond to as being inherently romantic.
5- When you are dating someone, what is the most important thing to you?
In the past, it's been keeping my life as exactly like being single as possible, so I don't have to deal with the notion that I'm dating anybody. This is part of why I don't date anymore.
6- Do you like pet names (ex: baby, sweetheart...)?
Some of them, but definitely not "baby" or "sweetheart."
7- What is your ideal night out with a significant other?
We turn into superheroes and save the world? >.> <.< Um, I can't even begin to answer this question. I have no idea whatsoever.
8- What is your ideal night in with a significant other?
Again, I have no idea. With the first one, the best evenings were the ones with the most other people over. With the second one, it was the evenings I didn't stick around too long, so he didn't have the time to try to do anything new I'd have to stop him from doing. Neither of these seem like ideals when applied to a theoretical SO I would actually be in love with and attracted to.
9- Would you be able to tell someone you love them, even if you didn't feel it?
I am not so conservative in my use of the word "love" as some. If I didn't feel I loved you, at least as a friend, I wouldn't be dating you in the first place. This has always been the case for me, even in my past relationships where I apparently managed to get everything else wrong. I wasn't in love with them, but as far as I'm concerned, I loved them.
10- Do you like relationships that involve serious commitments?
I don't like the idea of serious commitments, but since I don't like the idea of relationships either, I *definitely* don't like the idea of a relationship with someone I wasn't in love with enough to seriously commit to.
11- If you ever got engaged, how would you want it to happen?
A surprise. And not in public.
12- If you were engaged, would you want a wedding as soon as possible?
No! If I get married, I want time to plan a big fuck-off wedding with all the frills and ribbons, and someone else to throw me a bridal shower or Jack & Jill. Why would you give up an excuse to have such a ridiculously lavish party? And how can it be as ridiculously lavish as possible if you don't take the time to put it together?
13- Do you like to talk about the future when in a serious relationship?
I don't know. I've never been in a serious relationship. I suppose we took the friendship bit of my first relationship pretty seriously, even if the relationship bit wasn't, but I always hated it when he talked about the future, because he only did so in long rambling emails full of pretentious assumptions about how I felt about things.
14- Do you prefer a sensitive open relationship or a strong silent type?
I want exactly what every woman in the history of ever wants--a strong silent type who only opens up to me, because I am just that awesome that my love can change him, blah blah blah. It is, of course, a total fairy tale. (Then again, so is the notion that I'm going to start dating again anytime soon.)
15- When in a relationship do you have to have contact with your partner on a
daily basis?
In the past, I seem to have liked increasingly to stay away from them. In a theoretical future non-dysfunctional relationship, I think I'd still consider that unhealthy.
16- Do you like public displays of affection?
No. I appreciate the practicality of keeping one hand on your man at all times, just to make sure no one hits on either of you, but anything much more than holding hands I consider pretty rude.
17- Is there anything you won't tolerate while in a relationship?
Assumptions. For me, this seems to include assuming that I'm attracted to you, assuming I'm interested in sex, assuming I'm comfortable with the notion of "dating" you, assuming I know anything about dating at all, and assuming I'm okay with whatever you just said just because I didn't say anything about it. This is all, obviously, because I am a total fucktard.
More generally, I will not tolerate even traces of misogyny in any sort of human relationship involving me whatsoever. I will not take it from friends, from family members, from pets, I don't care. Obviously, this also means it's completely out of the question in a romantic relationship.
18- What is one thing that you value most in a relationship?
Uh, hopefully the other person? Isn't it being anything else kind of a sign that the relationship's a little fucked up?
19- Would you ever be able to handle a long-distance situation?
It sucks, but apparently I'm better at it than at actually dealing with being around someone I like. >.< Um, again, I take this shit seriously enough that I can't imagine dating someone at all if I were prepared to break up merely because of inconvenience.
That said, that's exactly why I broke up with my last boyfriend. Not only that, I was *pissed* that he was apparently planning on going back to Georgia for five months without "releasing" me. So no, I can't handle a casual long-distance situation. But apparently I can't handle any casual situation, so whatever.
