You are a Tolkien Liberal
TOLKIEN LIBERAL:

Everyone has their own path in Tolkien fandom, and
who is to say who is right and who is wrong?
You listen to all sides and draw your own
conclusions. There's a little bit of truth to
be found in every point of view. In your
refusal to claim that any one faction has the
exclusive claim to Tolkien Truth, you tend to
end up getting flamed by them all.

Tolkienology 101: What is Your Tolkien Belief System?
brought to you by Quizilla

This is a really funny quiz. So... here are the PPC agent's exact views on things... with comments in parentheses...

1. The Lord of the Rings is: A good story that will always be a part of me, though as I grow older I can see it has flaws as well. (Not as many as the movie, though. I mean, seriously... Hugo Weaving canNOT pull off that particular shade of lavender...)
2. Canon is: A starting point for broader reflection and discussion of the ideas it presents, and for the shaping of one's own views and the development of one's own responses to the original material. (In other words, something to THINK about.)
3. When you read an article that depicts Tolkien fans in a satirical light, you: Find it ignorant and in extremely poor taste to make fun of those to whom Tolkien's works have brought much joy and pleasure. (Depends what mood I'm in. I have had my life's fill of being made fun of. But also, often it's: Laugh because in the article's depiction of fannish weirdness you recognize yourself.)
4. Serious, non-parody Tolkien fanfiction should: Be utterly faithful to canon and written with due respect and reverence for Tolkien and his characters and his world. (Well, and then there are AUs. In which case, they should deviate *only* in the ways they are intended to.)
5. Tolkien parody should: Be funny. We all need a break, now and then, from the serious side of fandom.
6. Your attitude toward slash (fanfiction pairing same-sex characters in romantic or erotic relationships) in the Tolkien fandom is most nearly expressed thus: Slash is a good thing, whether or not I personally enjoy reading it or writing it. Tolkien certainly did not intend for any of his characters to be gay, but it is a healthy, good thing for fanfic writers to look beyond his limitations and prejudices when developing their interpretations of his characters. (I usually express my opinion on this one is "Dammit, it's supposed to be *real-world* ancient history!")
7. Your One True Slash Pairing in the Tolkien Universe is: More like a freeloving hippie commune than a pairing. (Very Secret Diaries. *is annoyed there are only three TTT ones*)

Gaaaaaah, it's hot out, and I have air conditioning in NEITHER of my houses. Mebbe I'll run over to someone else's house. Or mebbe down to the other one, 'cos at least the computer's on the first floor there instead of the second one.

Oh, and we passed a poke all the way to Sweden via AIM.

Teehee! Neat quizzie!! Think I'll go off to do it as well. Oh yeah, chap 3 of DMFF is up, in which Lettuce-Sue meets poetic justice. =)

Have also added some other random useless things to my site, though fun to check out.

*sigh* IM still kaput and I'm booooooored...

All the way to Sweden? *impressed*
