Bah. Frozen in ice for all eternity isn't enough of a punishment for Bush. As I said on the PPC Board, Bush is reason to build more circles of Hell.
My opinion?
Quite simply this:
Bush belongs safely trapped in the lowest circle of Hell for all eternity, and is good cause for even deeper circles of Hell to be built, because the ninth just doesn't sound like it's enough punishment for the narrow-minded bastard.
I'm not a fan of religion. If a religion bans gay marriage, I will roll my eyes at that religion, feel bad for the gays trapped in said denomination, but settle for being mildly pissed off, unless someone tries to convert me, in which case I'll laugh, thwack them, and go do something more worthwhile. I have severe problems taking religion seriously. It's there to be studied, not followed.
But as far as civil rights go, I say that if it doesn't hurt anyone, it's fine. And going against someone's religious beliefs doesn't count as hurting them. If Bush doesn't like gay marriages, he doesn't have to fucking get one. Let's drop the religious shit and think using logic and reason for a moment: I, personally, cannot see HOW the living fuck gay marriage could POSSIBLY destroy my family. We've already welcomed my uncle's boyfriend into the family; if they got married it'd just be another reason to get the entire family together for one of our massive get-togethers, the adults would get drunk, and everyone would be happy. My family, both sides of it, are brought closer by weddings and funerals. I don't see how gender issues would change that characteristic.
Bush is standing in the way of lots of perfectly nice people living their lives the way they want to. But despite his paranoia, absolutely none of these perfectly nice people are in any way actively blocking Bush from living his life the way he wants to.
Unless, of course, the way he wants to live his life involves getting elected again. I'm sure they'll all actively prevent that as much as they possibly fucking can. And I will be supporting them wholeheartedly.
Is part of dicussion stemming from this lovely article.
